It is impossible to imagine PVC production without it

"ADD-Chem has been supplying major customers with plasticizers since 2010. This enables us to guarantee high-quality products."

Some plastics, such as PVC, form strong dipole interactions. Polar molecules of the plasticizers settle between the polymer chains of the plastics. This reduces the dipole forces between the chains. The material becomes more elastic.

Plasticizers that convince
Availability through worldwide contacts

This method is known as external softening. However, it has the disadvantage that the substance is only connected to the material via dipole interactions. After a long time, the plasticizer can escape. The plastic becomes brittle.

In addition to external softening, there is also what is known as internal softening. The plasticizers are added to the plastics via copolymerization. The plastic remains permanently flexible and the plasticizer cannot diffuse out.

Further processing of many materials would hardly be possible without the addition of plasticizers. They are therefore used in large quantities in plastics, paints, coatings and rubber articles. They also ensure the desired usage properties.

Our plasticizer bestsellers

DOTP

DOTP is used for foils. This is especially true for foils in the food sector.

ESO

ESO (epoxidized soybean oil) is a co-stabilizer for film production.

DOA

Customers from the food sector in particular rely on DOA.

What are plasticizers?

Many materials used in the plastics industry have unfavorable properties. As pure substances, they are therefore difficult to process further.

Plasticizers are substances that are added to thermoplastics or thermosets in order to change their properties. This improves the flexibility and elasticity of the fabrics. In addition, the freezing temperature drops.

From a chemical point of view, plasticizers are mostly esters made from long-chain alcohols and polybasic acids. Esters of phthalic acid are used particularly frequently. However, other substances such as polyalcohols are also used.

Buy ADD plasticizers!

ADD-Chem offers six different plasticizers:

  1. ESO (epoxidized soybean oil)
  2. DOTP (dioctyl therephthalate)
  3. DINP (dinonyl phthalate)
  4. DOA (dioctyl adipate)
  5. TOTM (trioctyl trimelity)
  6. Polymeric plasticizers

The individual plasticizers differ in their chain length. In general, it can be said: the longer the chain, the more lipophilic the substance is.
